Catia V5 3D to SolidWorks This is a highly efficient SolidWorks plug-in translator thatloads native CATIA V5 into SolidWorks. This plug-in has achieved a complete level of integration withSolidWorks and offers powerful functionalities to properly read and work fromparts and assemblies designed with Catia V5. This translator is seamlessly integrated with SolidWorks making itvery easy to use to those familiar with the SolidWorks user interface. CATIA V5 to SolidWorks translator requires SolidWorksand Windows 2000 Sp2 /XP / Vista /Windows 7 in order to work properly, and also available for 32 and 64 bits. Main description : - Enables accurate and convenient CAD data transfer from CATIA V5to SolidWorks. - Does NOT require a license of CATIA V5. - Converts Parts and Assemblies : .CATPart and .CATProduct files - Translates ALL 3D data, including CATIA V5 Exact Solids. - Data can be filtered based on Entity Type and Visibility. - Support versions from CATIA V5 R7 to R20 . Feature-Based translator (requires a specific licence) - Catia V5 3D to SolidWorks Feature-Based option provides theability to load native CATIA V5 into SolidWorks, keeping construction tree andparametric features This option enables translating Catia V5 native features to Solidworksnative features, switching to BREP geometry in case of failures when necessary. Requirements : SolidWorks 2006 at least. Windows 2000 Sp2 / XP / Windows Vista / Windows 7 ( for 32 and 64bits).
ImporterOptions Activate Standard Import This option is more suitable for large files import that may havesome limitations with the advanced import. Activate Advanced Import ENTITIES FILTERING Read Surfaces: read allsurfacic entities. Read Wireframe: read allwireframe entities. Choose Layer Filter:displays a dialog box that let you choose the layer filter you want to apply. ADVANCED SETTINGS Write analytic surfaces:enables to keep some analytical surface definition (revolution and extrusion). Write all bodies in a single part: creates a Solidworks Part file for every Catia V5 body,if unchecked. Launch post-import sewing:uses Solidworks sewing abilities after importing the model (given Sewingtolerance in meters). DATA AND FILE MANAGEMENT Search Missing Files:allows you to specify search folders to look for missing parts or assemblies. Only visible / All as visible: if « All as visible » is activated, even hidden assembly nodeswill be imported. Display Import Report :displays the log file, a summary of imported entities, in a dialog box at theend of the processing (CATPart only). Activate Feature Import (SPECIFIC LICENCE) : FeatureImport option is visible only when the "feature" specific licence isavailable. FEATURES IMPORT : activates feature-basedtranslator Skip dress-up features on failure : in case of failure during Dress-up Features translating(fillets, chamfers, drafts), just skip the feature instead of switching to BREPgeometric mode (continues the execution as if nothing was wrong). Skippedfeatures are marked as (SKIPPED) in the log file. Write one Solidworks part per CatiaV5 body : creates one part per CatiaV5 body (by default). Thisvalue should remain True, especially for large models. To do, you should select the Tools menu, then the Add-Inscommand.  This command provides the list of add-ins, and CatiaV5 toSolidWorks should be added and activated in the list as shown in the followingpicture: Import a CatiaV5 3D Model To load a Catia V5 3D Model, you can use the SolidWorks command ‘Open File’, then choose the entry file withextension "DATAKIT Import CatiaV5 File" as shown in the following picture :  You can also use the converter with the Datakit menu ‘DATAKITExchange’ as shown in the following picture, that allows you to:  - Open the Option dialog box using the ‘OptionCatiaV5’ command. Formore information about import options, you can refer to the chapter ‘Importer Options’ - Convert a CatiaV5 3D Model into SolidWorks using the ‘OpenFileCatiaV5’ command. - Select a specific part or assembly from an assembly file(.CATProduct) using the ‘ShowTreeAssembly’ command. This entry point allows you to recover all the structure hierarchyof an assembly file. An example of displaying the tree of an assembly isillustrated in the following picture:  Browse a directory and retrieve the list of CATPart and CATProductfiles that should be processed, using ‘BrowseFolder’ command (specificlicence not provided in demo package ) . This menu will export a file you can import into DATAKITSolidworks Batch conversion utility (not provided in demo package, pleasecontact us for further information).
